Fantastic Tutorial List -UNFINISHED-

Sat Jul 12, 2008, 11:09 AM
So my friend :iconcannibal-kabiki: is looking to improve her art style just as I am and I'm sure many of you are. I went looking for a journal that was just loaded with tutorial links and all sorts of things that I used way back to help improve my art, but thus far I haven't found it. What I have found is a practically orgasmic list of bookmarks of tutorials both digital, traditional, and photomanip. Yeah, pretty sweet right? Anyway I decided to not only share my findings but sort of "save" these bookmarks just in case I lose them. They'll be in this journal forever ^-^

So I'm going to be annoyingly thorough and organize each bookmark and toss in a little blurb about it too. That way if you're looking for something specific you can find it rather quickly.

~~~~TUTORIAL LISTS~~~~
    :iconphotoshop-tutorials: - A very good journal list of tutorials going from the very basics in photoshop as well as traditional work to the most detailed work. [link]
    :iconartistshospital: - One of the best tutorial lists on DA. Not only does it include a detailed list of tutorials but also how to not get too emotionally connected to your work and take certain things certain ways. A must read for all artists. [link]
~~~~TRADITIONAL TUTORIALS~~~~

Anatomy

    :iconsnigom: - Beautiful Tutorials going over human anatomy in a traditional sense. [link]

General

    :iconthe-artists-cubby: - A collection of traditional art tutorials specializing in paints of different kinds; Acrylic, oil, watercolour, etc. [link]

    ~~~~DIGITAL TUTORIALS~~~~
      *100 Photoshop Tutorials - The title explains it all. It's one of the best collaborative tutorial sites I've ever seen. Just click on the picture you like and you're taken to a tutorial of that picture. A must look at for all digital artists. [link]
      :iconliiga: - A great hair tutorial for colouring realistic-ish looking hair without going strand by strand. Very useful even if it is a bit cartoony. [link]
      :iconstaldren: - A lighting tutorial that can be used in both photomanip and digital art depending on what you're doing. Very useful. [link]
      :icondianae: - A very thorough and detailed tutorial walking you through the steps to create a beautiful piece. If anything you should check the gallery because her work is amazing. [link]
      :iconemmil: - Hated roses as much as I do just because they're difficult to draw? Well hate no more, this beautiful tutorial will help you through your flower hating! [link]
      :iconone-vox: - You've seen him on YouTube with his speed paintings and he has a DevART! This particular link explains and demonstrates the importance of masking in photoshop, and once you see it you'll become addicted to it. [link]
      :iconmercuralis: - This tutorial helps all male-challenged artists (like myself) learn how to paint a man's face in photoshop. Very useful. [link]
      :icondianae: - Yes it's her again, but this is a must for most any artist. I loathe drawing water but this tutorial will help any water-challenged artist through the wet times. [link]
    ~~~PHOTOMANIP TUTORIALS~~~~

      :iconeilorendil: - The ABC to Photomanipulation. Essentially a beginners guide though it has some really nice tips and hints throughout the tutorial. [link]

      :iconjmonzani: - A list of tutorials this artist has created. All of which are high quality tutorials and well worth your time. Some are photomanip tutorials and some are just photography, but all of which are very good. [link]

      :iconarchetype-stock: - A great tutorial for advanced light and shadows in photomanipulation. I know that lighting is usually one of the hardest things to get right in a photomanip, so this is a great resource to use. [link]

      :iconnight-fate: - Beautiful tutorial about blending pictures together, and getting rid of those harsh edges that every photomanipulator hates! [link]

    Stock

      :iconsammi-antha-stock: - A great resource for preparing a stock photo for photomanip. Lots of text though so best be prepared for a good read. [link]

    ~~~~MISC~~~~
      :iconnorke: - A Simple tutorial on optimizing your photoshop. I know I have lagging problems sometimes as well as strange things happening, so this is really useful for making your photoshop as fast and sleek as possible. [link]
    So that's what I've got thus far. I fully intend to continue to update this with more tutorials I find both on DA and off. Resources galore I say!
  • Reading: Summer AP English Books
